This chocolate chip cookies with sea salt recipe has become a family favorite. My kids love making them together! I found a simple way to bring a chocolate chip cookie recipe to the next level with adding premium finishing sea salt. I have found in baking that the type of ingredients matter. More premium butter, salt, chocolate will make more delectable results. I use Jacobsen’s pure flake finishing sea salt and it does not disappoint! These cookies are fluffy, soft and pair perfect with a cold glass of milk. My mouth waters thinking about them. I often make these with my kids and package in a simple mason jar as gifts for dad, grandpa and teachers! Follow the easy recipe below and you’ll be coming back time after time to make them again.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES WITH SEA SALT INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp table salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
- 1 tsp sea salt
Step 1: Prep Ingredients and Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Get eggs out of fridge to sit at room temperature.
Step 2: Mix butter and sugars
Using an electric mixer beat cold butter until smooth using a paddle attachment. Add granulated and brown sugar and beat for 2 minutes, or until light and fully. Scrape down sides of the bowl.
Step 3: Mix eggs and vanilla
Add the room temperature eggs one at a time. Scrape down sides of the bowl. Add vanilla and mix for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Mix dry ingredients
Mix in baking soda, baking powder and table salt on low speed. Then add the flour slowly until combined.
Step 5: Add chocolate chips
Stir in chocolate chips with spatula. You can use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips.
Step 6: Scoop cookies
Using scooper make 2 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on parchment lined cookie sheet. I like to place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 5 minutes before placing in the oven.
If you want to save some cookies for later, you can put 2 inch cookie balls into freezer bag. You will need to add ~2 minutes to the suggested baking time.
Step 7: Bake Cookies at 350 degrees for 12 minutes
Bake for 12 minutes. The cookies should be starting to look golden brown, the top of the cookie will still be soft.
Step 8: Top with Sea Salt
The key step to make these chocolate chips cookies sweet and savory is to top with sea salt while the cookies are still warm. I recommend using a premium sea salt like Jacobsen Salt Co. Pur Flake Sea Salt.
Step 9: Enjoy Warm
Place cookies on cooling rack. The cookies will finish cooking on cooling rack. Serve cookies warm with a cold glass of milk
