My son’s birthday falls in the wintertime, so we celebrated our little lumberjack in a winter wonderland! Everything needed to be flannel, red, black, green and burlap.
If you’ve been following our blog, you already know we come from a very creative family. So naturally we LOVE throwing all kinds of parties. Planning a party is fun, but can be a little overwhelming! Remember to enjoy your time! Most of the time things don’t go exactly as you thought, but that’s ok! What’s most important is enjoying those moments with your family and friends. Remember it’s for the KIDs… just kidding, let’s be real 1st birthday’s are also for the parents! After all we made it a year, time to celebrate!!

Invitation
I always like to start with the invitation and use that as inspiration to create the rest of the theme. I like to use Etsy, and send the invitation electronically and print some paper copies as well for keepsakes and for those who would prefer a paper copy. For printing, I use Walgreens printing services. If I am using Etsy, I do order directly through them, and have been very happy with the quality.
Decorations & Dessert
Most of my decorations were from Amazon. They have adorable options from “One” themed banners for the front of the highchair to cake toppers, tablecloths, birthday crowns, and photo frames for each month of their first year!
I purchased the large gold 1 balloon from Walmart and created the balloon bunches and 1 balloon column the night before. You could honestly do it the morning of though, it was so quick and easy to do. Here is a great video tutorial if this is your first time creating one. They instantly bring the décor to the next level and are so easy and cheap. The key is to buy your own air pump. I have this one from Amazon and it works great.
My mom is extremely creative and has a love for baking. She made the incredible cake, cupcakes and lumberjack themed cookies. She ships cookies nationwide and you can message her on Instagram @soozcakes to order them in advance. They make excellent party favors! You could make your own cake and cupcakes or order from a local bakery.
Activities
An adorable and simple activity is a photo booth. Amazon offer great options for backdrops that you can tape up on the wall and adorable props to go along with it. You can set up a tripod, also sold on Amazon, with a Ipad and text ppl photos after the event or they can use their own phones.
Party Favors
There are so many different routes you can go with party favors. Just have fun with it. try to think about what your little one would like and I am sure their friends will love them! I had my specialty ordered cookies from Sooz Cakes (who ships nationwide), individually packaged so those were the take home party favor. Sooz Cakes offers an option to order them individually packaged for this purpose. You can also order them way ahead of time and freeze them, which I strongly recommend. You can message her on Instagram @soozcakes to order. Just set them out at the party or the night before and they taste fresh baked once thawed to room temperature.
