Step #1: Start by gathering your supplies
You’ll need the following:
- Floral Ice Molds
- Liquid Food Coloring
- Purified Water
- Cooling Racks
- Measuring Cup (for mixing)
I found my floral ice molds on Amazon and loved the way they turned out. They are not super sturdy so you will want to use some sort of flat surface to store them. I recommend clearing a space in your freezer prior to starting this project.
Step #2: Mix water and food coloring and pour into molds
Mix water and liquid food coloring to desired color until fully dissolved and combined. Pour liquid into mold and be sure to fill to an even level but not to overfill.
Step #3: Stack molds on cooling racks to keep secure in freezer
Since these molds are a bit flimsy, I used cookie cooling racks to store them securely in the freezer. These worked great! Be sure not to overfill the mold too much where they would stick to the cooling racks, and even if they do a little, they should be fine.
Step #4: Freeze overnight and pop out molds into container right before your event
Place molds in the freezer overnight. Remove and display in clear visible bowl for both serving and beautiful decor at your event. The food coloring may settle a little in the center of the mold but that is completely ok, once you pop them out, you will see the color is still very beautiful.
Step #5: Serve with a wide mouth glass to display the ice mold
I used these throw away coup champagne glasses to serve with these drinks, as they allowed the mold to display on top. Be sure the serving glass has a wide enough top to fit the mold. I also love to serve this with fresh garnish such as mint or basil that guests can add to their drink for a refreshing and beautiful finish.
